Chartres

… trois quart d’heures à peine de la maison. Donc incroyablement proche ;-). Avant de se promener dans la ville de Chartres, on a fait un saut à  « la maison Picassiette », œuvre d’un seul homme, Raymond Isidore. Pendant plus de 25 ans, il a manipulé 4 millions de débris de vaisselle … pour transformer son pavillon, acquis en 1930, en un immense mosaïque! Stupéfiant, déroutant, incroyable … le visiteur n’en croit pas ses yeux! C’est vraiment une folie artistique! Quel dommage qu’on n’a pas du tout le droit d’y faire des photos!!! C’est pourquoi on en trouve très peu sur le net :-(. La maison aurait été tellement plus connue! Aussi, c’est le dernier jour de « Chartres en lumière », évènement majeur depuis 9 ans dans la capitale de la Beauce. Mama était très curieuse d’aller le voir … et nous aussi un peu. Malheureusement, juste avant la tombée de la nuit, la pluie s’est abattue sur nous avec une telle violence … qu’on n’a pas pu voir grande chose des lumières … quel dommage pour les organisateurs et participants! Tant pis … mais qui peut contrôler les forces naturelles :-(? On a quand même pu visiter sa fameuse cathédrale (en plein rénovation!) et monter sur la tour nord … et comme c’est dans le cadre des journées du patrimoine … c’était gratuit ;-)!

… only 45 minutes away from home. So incredibly close ;-). Before walking in the city of Chartres, we popped over at the house « Picassiette », creation of a single man, Raymond Isidore. During more than 25 years, he manipulated 4 million fragments of dishes to transform his house, acquired in 1930, in an immense mosaic! Stunning, puzzling, incredible … the visitor does not believe his eyes! It’s really an artistic madness! What a pity, that you’re not allow to make any pictures!!! That’s why we find so little on it on the internet :-(. The house would be so much more famous! It’s also the last day of « Chartres illuinated », major event since 9 years in the capital of Beauce. Mama was very curious to go to see it … and we a little bit, too. Regrettably, just before the nightfall, the rain came down on us with such a violence … that we weren’t able to see much of the illuminations … What a pity for the organizers and participants! Too bad … but who can control the natural forces :-(? We could visit the famous cathedral nevertheless (in plenty renovation!) and rise on the north tower … and as it was within the Heritage Days … so it was free ;-)!
