Today Aba and Mama thought to visit Caesarea (around 40 km north of Tel Aviv). Somptuous and beautiful ! And the weather was great, like usual. In Israel, you don't need to worry about the weather, because most of the time it's great weather and April is really one of the best month to visit israel. ."
So, Caesarea, it's a village which "was awarded to Herod, who ruled between the years 37 to 4 BC. He built a large port city at the site, and called it Caesarea in honour of his patron Octavian Augustus Caesar. … Caesarea was a planned city, with a network of crisscrssing roads, a temple, theatre, amphitheatre, markets and residential quarters … and it took 12 years to build it … .
Now for more than 2000 years, at the same place, you can still see a lot ! Beautiful mosaics (Mama loves them !), columns, pillars, statues, inscriptions … just precious antiquities, we are overwhelmed.
What is great is that in these parks, we don't know why, maybe, because the holidays finished in Israel, you just don't see a lot of people, so you have the whole site for yourself and that is wonderful !
Aba and Mama went to visit Caesarea 17 years ago. They were so astonished, so many things changed ! Of course, things move quick here, certain things. You have cafés and restaurants on the site, all the paths for the visitors are new and very convenient. You have a great documentary film about the construction of Caesarea in a even more modern multimedia hall. Wow, very impressive !
Look at the theatre, it's the "most ancient of all theatres found in Israel". There's place for 4000 spectators. It's really breath-taking when you're totally up, first you see very well and second you hear what people are saying on stage. Hm, that's usually the purpous of a theatre, so you must know THAT already :-).
If you don't know where to go next, look at the signs !
We were hungry and found a great restaurant "The Port Café". Good appetite ! And enjoy the great view, too, with us ! The food was really delicious and very fresh.
Bonne nuit, good night, my wonderful family!
